Hi just done a MS update and this came up to install.

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Service Pack 3, English Version

Can anyone tell what it is?

It is used to develop .NET applications (if you ever see .aspx on the end of a website.. that is an ASP.NET web application)

Note: Non-developers need to install the .NET Framework 1.1 to run applications developed using the .NET Framework 1.1.

..I would suggest upgrading to 1.1
