Microphone Problems

I am having trouble getting the microphone on my headset to work on the laptop I have below in my sig, but mainly seems to be a problem when I try to use it in Counter Strike Source. I just get a bunch of static. When I use it in just the basic windows sound recorder, its pretty decent. Any ideas? The audio driver is Sigmatel, the headset is a Logitech....Premium Headset? Im not too sure, it was just on sale for $15.

Any ideas as to the problem? Id also like to find out how to disable the integrated microphone on my laptop, as that might be part of the problem.

Just did a bit more investigating, in my volume control, "Microphone" is for my headset, so I click select on it. "Digital mic" is my integrated mic (I want this disabled somehow). I go into source, and instantly it switches to my digital mic, which is giving me the static.

Any ideas?

I couldn't get mine to work either, I messed around in the control panel, and on board and stuff.

Cause I am using on board, my 5.1 is plugged in, and I have a head phone splitter connecting the black speaker cord and the mic cable.

Mess around with the control panel for the audio source.

Ive messed around a ton with those settings, but no results. The main problem I think is actually disabling the onboard mic now, but I'm not sure how to do it, or if that will fix it.

I just found a Creative Express Card sound card though, which looks decent enough, so I might resort to that if I have to.

Have you tried going into control panel/ sounds and audio devices / voice and setting up your microphone?

I have had your problem when playing Unreal, it always worked for me by setting up the mic in the control panel.

I did a "Test hardware" where I had to speak into the mic, and then do it again while it plays it back to me, and it works perfectly there. =/
