ok so i got this stand-up mic
like this KIND of mc but not the one i have.

and i put it in and my system says that i have it in but i turn it on and it doesnt work on ventrilo or anything else, whats wrong?

Do you have the microphone selected (and not muted) in the volume manager, either Windows or for your sound card?

If you have it selected and the volume up on the microphone input (volume control panel / manager), then it sounds like it's a setting in the program you're using.

As omega said, program setting

or...not to sound insulting (i do it all the time (like every time i plug one in)).
Make sure you plugged it into the right hole on your computer.


My sound card has a bunch of ports so i often accedentally plug it into the headphone jack or something.

Another thought, do you have another microphone that you know works. Plug it in and make sure the soundcard is working right. You could also try this mic on another computer.

Is there a mic port on the front of your computer box, if there is try it in that.
