Making space

Does anyone know a good program to make space on your hard drive. I DO NOT want an external hard drive as you cant store programs on them very well.

Do you just have a lot of files taking up space or what?
You could delete temporary and prefetch files with CCleaner.
You could also use WinDirStat to map your drive and see what is taking up all the space.

Last resort, you could purchase a larger hard drive and clone your current drive over to the larger one.

But how do I get WinDirStat and does CCleaner really get you much space? The reason I don't want an external hard drive is because I have a lot of programs rather than files as I do a lot of video editing and need various software.

You can't put a quart in a pint pot. You have to move non-program files to another drive whether internal or external, or get a bigger hard drive. 1TB is common these days and cheap. I would make a larger hard drive an essential, not a last resort per Voyagerfan99!

I can't imagine you have that many programs nor lack of money as all the editing programs that take up a lot of space are expensive. The cheap, geeky programs are all lightweight. I do graphic and video editing on a single 120GB drive (not HD however). The usual issue for most people is space for the video sources and output.

Edit: I made a quick check - most of my video apps are 200-500MB installed. Bryce is my largest graphic app due to the 3D model library, 1GB. How many apps could one person need?

CCleaner is a must for this type of thing. I run it daily on my own computer but most people recommend weekly or monthly.

It depends on how much you use your computer really.

I agree with everything everyone above has said as methods for creating more space on your HDD.

I DO NOT want an external hard drive as you cant store programs on them very well.

If you have a desktop, you should be able to just plug another drive into an available bay. If not, there's actually a fairly easy way to trick your computer into thinking the files/programs on an external drive are actually on your main drive... Though I don't remember what it's called or how to do it off the top of my head. I've got it in a magazine down in my rack.
