has anyone made a case mod were there had to be cutting of steel or aluminum, i want to make a mod on the top of my case to exhaust heat (heat rises) duh . well if u can tell me ur process and way u did it.

What shape are you making? If it's a circle, they have circle cutters for sheet metal. If it's a square, then a jigsaw with a metal blade would probably work best.

oo just for an 80mm fan, thats all, so whats ur idea for that then , bc it can be a square or circle, what do u think ?????

Get a hole saw - it is quite easy to get a 70mm hole saw. If not do what i did and get a jigsaw and just cut a hole out with it. Turns out ok. Heres mine

Kornowski used a hole saw for an 80mm fan on his 5.5 drive bays he may be able to help you to.

but hey , when u did it , was the edges rough ?? or sharp, but also can u tell me ur process in steps, i know that sounds stupid, but i really dont want to mess up and be positive about what im doing .

thanks

First i measured everything perfectly. Then drew the circle outline. Drilled a hole on the edge so i could get the jigsaw blade in. Cut around the circle outline. Aligned up the holes and drilled for the case fan screws (4mm) Then i got a dremel and sanded down the edges because, yes, they were rough and sharp. Then a wiped it down, repainted it as it got scratched whilst being cut. Put ill al together again and voila. Id go with a 12cm fan rather than a 80mm fan if possible.

I made a thread a while back

I used a 76mm Hole Saw on 2 spare Drive Bays I had, I then used some low grit sandpaper to get rid of the rough edges on it... Then used 4mm drill to make the holes for the screws, I think they were 4mm, I'd check this out first.

There's some pics in my signature for you to take a look at.

thank you kornowski, it was very helpful , i think ill be doing this mod with in the next 2 weeks

thanks again guys

Hey kornowski what graphics card did you go for in the end ? and whats it like?

I'd guess it's a 7950GT

Uh Hu! :D

I got the 7950GT, I got it with 512MB of memory instead of the 256MB.
Well, It's amazing, I didn't want to splash out on an 8800, and I don't plan on getting Vista any time soon, so it was the best option!

It plays all the games I have on max settings without any problems, full res, full everything. Rainbow Six: Vegas, FEAR (and expansion), BF2 and Oblivion :D

What do you run it at? How many FPS do you get, I get something crazy, I get a steady 100FPS, Don't know how that is compared to other cards....
