Magic Jack Voice Quality

When I first got the MJ it worked great and sounded good. But now it has a bad chopping in the sound, sometimes it works but most of the time it sounds horrible.
I hooked it up to my laptop and it done great but I don't want to leave it hooked up all the time to it.

Wondering if something is slowing it down. It's Vista and my laptop is W7.
 
Is this the same pc as the avg and quickbooks issue? If so, you may want to think about either reinstalling windows or doing a system restore back to when everything was working good.
 
It's got AVG but not QB. I do have the discs for upgrading it to Windows 7, I just haven't done it yet.
Other idea was to get a MJ Plus and see if that works.

I thought there maybe some stuff running on this computer that is slowing it down. It's got 95gigs of free space.

Speaking of restoring, the other computer can only go back a couple of weeks.
Is there a way to make it go back farther? Let's say back in September?
