By changing my NIC card, which changes my mac address, does this pretty much change my internet identity. My friend had the laptop before me on his isp. So if i take the laptop and change the NIC card and then put it on my ISP service, the whole computers internet identity is different. Also before I install a new nic card i will erase the harddrive and re install the OS system My computer should be clean????

you dont have to change your NIC card, your "internet identity" as you put it is governed by your IP address, this is assigned to you by your current ISP, so when you change ISP's, you will get a new one. as for reformatting etc... thats personal preference, you could just go through and delete all of the other gyus files, but to get EVERYTHING off then yes a format will do.

so yeh, to sum up, there is no need at all to get a new NIC card, your MAC address is not broadcasted out anywhere, only to your router (if you have one) it is just something that your PC uses. no one frmo outside can see your MAC address...
