Looks like the SB Live died...

Any suggestions? My old system has remained untouched for the most part aside from software installations and such. Hardware wise, it's really not been changed since I got my new system. Well last time i used it, windows wouldn't boot. Today, I try to reload 2000. It works fine, but every time I try to load the sound drivers, it locks up. I even tried other older drivers...

Now this machine had been locking up in games before, so maybe the card was slowly giving out, I don't know really... It's not that big of a deal, but it is a bit annoying that I don't have sound on my computer at home  I was going to pop another sound card into it then I remembered I shipped all my old ones out  Oh well...

I get fantastic sound from the cheap Asonic range cards, when i say cheap i really mean cheap, its like £10 for a PCI 7 channel sound card, and i couldnt ask for better sound, bass is superb, deatial is fantastic, and the volume can get REALLY high.

Quick ebay search and i found this, you say its not your main system so your not exactly going to be using audio as a full sound systema re you, a small one should do fine.

Thanks...I considered getting a cheap card such as one of those(just remember i'm in the US ;P) However, I think I got it going again. I opened my comp up and disconnected my volume control buttons and it seemed to fix it. I'd been doing a good bit with the front pannel, so it wouldn't suprise me if something was shorting out. Not that it should cause a problem, though, as pressing both simply mutes it, but whatever...
