The prices of the components over in the UK are far tooooo much. If I pay some one in the US to buy some items and ship them would it be cheaper?

1.On package Gift under 5.00
2.Items like Graphics card

Yes, however there are exceptions, first you have to pay extra money for the shipping, but you also most likely will have to pay taxes of fees on the import. Normally under like $50 is free but if its like a good gpu be ready to fork over a chunk of change to get it. Not sure if the uk is like that but most countries are.

I'm pretty sure if it's shipped as a gift you don't have to pay import taxes.

I would think if it is shipped from a friend not a biz they wouldn't even open it to see what is inside.

They never open it, even if it's shipped from a business.

When you ship internationally, you fill out a form declaring the contents of the package, and the value of the goods. I would assume it's x-rayed or something before it leaves the country.

Do you know how long that would take for every single item to go through customs when it is shipped internationally? The truth of the matter is, not every package is checked, and stuff slips by all the time. How do you think illegal items are smuggled into countries?

I shipped some stuff internationally on ebay before, I just went to fed ex. gave them a box, they asked me what it was, and then shipped it out. I had to declare a value on it. They never checked it, and never asked for anything other than a basic description.

I've never dealt with recieving a package from out of the US, so I don't know how much the US does with it. But I have a friend from canada and another one from romania who ran into pretty big fees when they bought some stuff from people in the US, they even tried saying it was a gift but they still had to pay. I think the US is a little more leniant then most countries but the friend in Romanio bought some OCZ plat from a friend and they wanted $300 if fees when they arrived because it wasn't in their data base so they put the maximum value on it, well they ended up "proving" it was under $50 and go away with no fees. Its all a matter of import policies and the US is one of the more open countries but you're better off checking.
