Looking to buy a new home theater system need some help

I am looking for a new home theater system. It needs to have a lot of bass and I mean a lot. I guess the maximum I would want to spend is $1000 but lower is always better.

It needs to sound good for music and movies I will be putting this in my basement so It wont crack the plaster walls as easily as it would upstairs. It needs to have pretty good lows, mids and highs and sound pretty good. I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to this kind of stuff so any help is appreciated.

I need 5.1 speakers a sub woofer and a amplifier and whatever else I need that goes with it.

Well..."home theater system" is a little bit vague. Do you alos need a flat screen or do you have one already ? Would you go for a projector ? AV receiver alos I guess ?... There are some good websites on home theaters, you can just google them.

All I need is sound if you read my post I make it pretty clear if you do not understand it read it again until you understand it. What is a AV reciever all I need is a amp to power the sub and speakers. I could use google but I don't know what is good brands or what I am doing when it comes to this stuff
