Looking for something basic but reliable

Hello

I live in the UK and I'm looking to buy a new desktop computer. I don't need anything particularly fancy.

I need a good wireless internet access and Microsoft Office and a USB port for an external hard drive and that's it.

I won't be needing any other hardware, I already have a printer.

Can anyone recommend what I should be buying?

Thanks

Probably easier just to grab a pre-built and then purchase Office with it too and install it.

What's your budget?

Thanks for your response.

I don't really have a budget because I don't know what the going rate is.

I just want something basic, new and reliable as I outlined.

What sort of price range should I expect?

so you are not bothered at all about having the most up to date features like sata III or usb 3.0 ?

You just want a decent quick reliable pc that doesn`t cost the earth ?

Exactly, something basic but reliable.

Do you have any suggestions?

Medion are one of the best value cheap computers, they come with a 3 year warranty and unlike most manufacturers medion actually give you a physical copy of windows installation disc, not a stupid recovery partion like acer etc.

Depending where you are from, it may be worth looking into getting a machine custom built by a local specialist, this has the advantage of being able to hand pick each component.

My brother bought a Medion PC a few years ago, it works like a charm. Not much room for expansion but I think one would suit your needs. :)
Just something to bear in mind is that Microsoft Office doesn't come with Windows so that'll be extra :)

You may also find this useful, A fully built intel ivybridge system with pretty good specs for such a low price, it does not come with windows installed but that would give you the advantage of being able to choose your opertaing system, windows 7 vs windows 8.

You would be looking at about another £70 for windows operating system, so that would take your total for a full working ivybridge pc to just £270
