You pay for quality. Not sure if it's true but I was informed that Altec Lansing are only second best to Bose.

As long as you're happy with your choice, that's all that matters. :)

I can recommend the Altec Lansing VS4121 system.

http://www.alteclansing.com/product_details_intl.asp?pID=VS4121&region=asiapac&country_code=au (That's the Aussie site for you :) )

They look nice, but looking at the specs...
Subwoofer: 19 Watts @ 4 ohms @ 10% THD @
20 – 150 Hz Single Channel Loaded

how come I don't believe this :

Actually Bose sucks. It's just a common misconception that they're really good, while almost all audiophiles hate them (im not an audiophile, but I had to do research on home theater speakers so I read up about Bose). They also don't publish ANY specs for their speakers, so that's a bit dodgy.

Anyways, I would reconmend this set,

or this set if you can slightly stretch your budget,

(I know newegg doesn't ship to Australia, but see if you can find someone who sells these models there)

edit: Oh I just saw that you already bought it. Good choice! Logitech speakers are great!

There are many articles online criticizing Bose. Of course you can't believe them all, but piecing together information, you do get a sense of how they're HTPC's aren't worth what they cost.

I got altec lancing satalites and a 6" sub, sounds alright. I preffer running through my home system, im really picky with my sound tho. Anyone thats looking for speaks in the gta princess auto has the altec's I mentioned for 80 bucks. Well worth it imo. I don't like bose's stuff much either.

Hey what can you expect from a 6" sub?

I run my system through a home stereo with 2 Infinity bookshelf speakers and a 10" sub, Sounds great! But I do piss my wife off from time to time when things start falling off the walls. :)

I was thinking the same thing, I just did'nt expect that much from a 6 but I was actually suprised, I can hear it no prob in any other room in the house. Up against a NAD reciever and sound dynamics twin 8" towers its no contest, even @ low listening levels. That was kinda my point. After I hooked my home system up and got used to it the the altecs sounded almost "noisy" for the first little while. I'm not knocking them either.
