hello dear friends,

well i am looking for some CAD_programs:

Like the above mentioned title notes, im looking for a Open Soure-tool. Note: i do not need this for work - i am a hobbies
so I don’t really need the top most and fanciest 3D or many many awesome fancy libraries.

Question: Is free cad suitable for that? If not does anyone know a good alternative? I’m currently working on a Linux box and i am lovin Linux
Thank you guys,

Btw: there a new release was done by the FREECAD buys: see

is it worth a try!?

hi there good day dear Intel_man

many thanks for the reply. Well i want to do dive into the 3d drawings -
not printing - but i want to be able to draw some frames ...- bike-frames.

so i think i have to dive into CAD - (as a newbie)

its all about learning a little how to use it.
perhaps i will have a closer look at FreeCAD or others for some hobby projects
such as - steel-frame creation with a jig - cf.

note: i have create me a jig - see here: https://www.instructables.com/Bicycle-Frame-Building-Jig/
so as i have the frame jig - and now i need a software to draw ...

btw. cf. see also here

update: there are some kind of special programs out theree - such as rattleCAD or BikeCAD - but i guess that i can use a opensource-tool ( like Free CAD for example) too.

what do you think

have a great day dear Intel-Man.

greetings;)

You can also look into Autodesk Fusion 360. They have a free version for non commercial use with limited features that should be fine for hobbyists?

I don't believe they have a version for Linux though.
