looking at web camera

I kind of have a silly question regarding my web camera. I'm trying to record a speech for a class, but I'm not sure where to look when I'm recording? I have done numerous test recordings, and it seems like no matter where I look, my eyes are not looking in the right direction. I looked right into the lens of the camera but I don't look right when I review it. Where should I be focusing my eyes?

Did you try to look right under the lens? Try putting a pencil or something midway between you and the camera and look at the object.

Well, I want people to feel like I am looking at them when they watch the video, but when I watch any of my test videos, I do not appear to be looking directly at myself. My eyes seem to be looking somewhere else. Maybe I'm just being vain, but then again I don't want to look unprofessional either.

Make sure that the camera is right at where your normal line of sight would be so that you are looking straight ahead.

Basically.... you wanna look straight on, lets say your webcam is on top your monitor, look directly at your monitor, and not into the webcam, or you will look like you are rolling your eyes.

No, move the webcam OFF the monitor so that you can look straight at the webcam as if you were talking to someone across the table in person.

Or that, but its just gotta be at eye level or your gonna have ur eyes looking up/down/sideways etc, best thing to do would be just put it on something eye level, look at it like you were talking to someone, and look just beyond it when u talk.
