Logitech mouse doesn’t work on mouse pad.

Ok I thought my computer was going on the blink, but this morning I realized that it was my mouse. It will only work on my pants leg and nothing else. What the hell is going on? I even changed the batteries and moved the receiver to the front of my computer thinking something is blocking the signal.

Has anybody else experienced this?

Oh I forgot to mention that its a wireless.

The optical is probably going out on it, you will need to get a new one most likely.

really wow, I just bought this about a month ago.

I wonder if these things need cleaning once in a while. I've been through 4 or 5 mouses in the last year both wireless and with cords. I have box full of used ones and I guess I'll have go through and find one that works.

its an optical/laser mouse. I bought a ball a couple of years ago because i was developing tendonitis, but it wasn't verry good. A coworker uses one at work he loves his. I may have to write down the number and see if I can buy one for myself.

Actually I may be using the wrong name because I just looked for a ball mouse and got the wrong one. I'm looking for the one with the large ball on top and the rest doesn't move.

Ok I just found it and I believe the one I want to buy is called a trackball

So it turns out the mouse works everywhere in the room from the couch to the throw rugs on the floor, but not on the desk in front of the computer.
I was thinking maybe something from the front of the computer is blocking the wireless signal so I turned the computer facing another direction and it works.

I don’t know but this is just too weird, because it worked perfectly fine for a couple of months until my computer started slowing down.

I have to check to see if the computer has wireless network capabilities which could be causing it I guess. I have it hardwired directly to the router and have never bothered to look.

Whats the surface of the desk? Use a mouse pad

Its just a Laminate Counter top with a mouse pad. I've had several different ones and the glossy doesn't work, but I've had a few that worked just fine.

I also works fine on my pants leg or my shirt. It only stops working in front of the computer and I did move the USB receiver from the back to the front without any difference. I don't have a lot of room or I would just keep the computer pointing away from the keyboard and mouse pad

Anyway I've decided to buy another trackball and I'm going to use this mouse with my lap top. I jut need to find one with a scroll wheel and at least a back button. I think the last one I bought didn't have a scroll or a back button if I remember right.

Ok so I now know for sure it’s not the optics, because I just found out that the scroll and the Back button doesn’t work in front of the computer. There must be a jamming signal coming from the front of my computer and I don’t know what, but it’s too weird that it’s directional.
I guess I need to take the computer apart and unplug things like DVD player, Fan, Front audio panel, and Memory Card Reader one at a time to see if the problem goes away.

Did you just buy any new electronic equipment that may be near your computer? Sometimes new equipment will block wireless signal. If not, I would say your wireless adapter for your mouse is on the fritz and you just need a new one.

Well I did just install a second Asus LED monitor that for some reason keeps getting knocked out of the system and I have to constantly go into NVIDA control panel and turn it back on.
I also have an ASUS Dual-Band Wireless-N 600 Router within 12” of my workspace. I’ve had the router for about a year, but only went to a wireless mouse last month.
I don’t think I had a problem with the mouse until after I installed the monitor. Maybe I’ll unplug the monitor first.
I guess it could be the mouse because I don't think I paid much for it.

OK, I'm really confused now because I unplugged the second monitor and the mouse is working, but I can't explain why when I turned the computer facing away from the wall it also worked. Unless the monitor accidentally got turnoff in the process and I didn't notice it.

Well I don't want to give up the monitor and I will probably have to replace the mouse.
