My Logitech 5.1 surround sound speakers are being weird. well when there plugged into my laptop they all work and when there pluged into my desktop on the left and right, and sub work. They used to all work on my desktop, I don't understand what happened. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated!

That sounds like a software problem being seen on the desktop as far as speaker settings. You may end up having to reinstall the software/drivers for the older Creative model you have if the same as seen in your sig.

Thanks but I figured it out, I had to change the settings on this Creative eax settings, the only problem is, is that you can't save the settings so everytime I turn on the computer, I have to change the settings :( ooo well its working at least!!!

The EAX itself is for the sound effects like an echo whenever a wav file rings for a system function you have one assigned to. But you had to get into the mixer to get out of the default 2 1/2 setting in order to see 5.1.

That's a typical problem with the software for some of the older models. Eventually when you get into a newer build or simply need a new card if that finally let's go on you the mixer section has seen quite a bit of improvement for retaining the settings you choose unless there's a need to reinstall or simply going with an update.

Not sure if this would fix it, but you have set your speaker settings to 5.1 surround sound, right?

I think it could be drivers. I have the X-540 set from Logitech and what happened was i had to get a separate sound card for it because I had the standard 3-way sound chipset. After that, I ran into a problem because I have a matrix button on my speaker controller and whenever I turned that on, only two spears would work so I never use that button.

That's a good post there Rambo showing the older styled sound settings. But you also have to remember to click the apply button once any setting is changed to see it put into effect if that was missed. oops! Defaults return next boot up every time.

The screen captures here shows how one of the three modes look in the newer X-Fi line up. The first shows the audio console along with the immediate face plate with the volume, bass, and tremble controls.

The second here shows the speaker settings section.

I wouldnt call it old unless you were comparing it to vista, as that is just the general look for the sound properties in the control panel of XP. That isnt the sound card software.

That's where you are wrong there. The screens I posted were from both versions of Windows at different times simply show what the software looks like for the newer line of cards over the older SB24, SB Live, and other older SB models.

Creative obviously wanted the newer Vista look when coming out with the X-Fi series with the new version of Windows pending at that time. The audio properties seen in Vista have also had the expected change in appearance as well.
