Local area connection question...

As a student at college where the residential internet guys are psyco about no wireless in the dorms, I was wondering if by connecting to the internet with my ethernet cable in the dorm if they can monitor my activity (ie. file sharing and/or personal stuff). I am kind of scared cuz the ResNet guys here are nazis and I don't want to be expelled for downloading music etc... or surfing sites about how to make bombs (jk) thx

Yes they can see every site you look at... sites, peer to peer (ports). Your asking the main computer for access to a location everytime.. they just ask the server what is he asking for.. Be cautious, read the rules on what you are not allowed to look at...
