Loaded new OS but lost audio drivers

I overwrote home XP with pro. The audio drivers are nowhere to be found and I need to try to find a way to get sound on the machine. Anyone have suggestions on working around the drivers on the original board? I don't even know if this is really an option.

If you have onboard audio such as ac97 the drivers are on the motherboard utilities cd. Otherwise, get the make and model of motherboard and get drivers from manufacturer's site. If you have an audio card, get drivers from manufacturer's site.

Okay, I'll see what I can do. I think the drivers are still signed in the C:\ somewhere, but I know I don't have the drivers installation disc. After checking the HP site I see it's a fairly old machine and the audio driver disk isn't there. Perhaps they send reinstallation discs. If I can transfer the drivers into the current profile of reload them into the registry I might be able to pull them back...I don't know for sure.
