ok im looking to do a wireless setup in my house....heres what im lookin to do. i want to pick up a couple wrt54g routers, now what im lookin to do is find earlier versions of these because ive heard that v4 and earlier can be flahsed with a 3rd party firmware and one can be made into a wireless bridge for alot less than buying one. heres the way i want to set it up: one wireless router upstairs in my room with my pc and modded xbox hard wired to it, a second wrt54g upstairs in my roomates room flashed to be a wireless bridge and have his pc, 360, and modded xbox hooked up to it, then a second wireless bridge down stairs in our living room hard wired to my modded xbox down there, and wired to my recording/media server in the basement. now i know this sounds complicated but i know people who have done similar setups, what i want to know is if anyone knows what serial #'s are the pre v5 routers? ive heard i can also do the same thing with the wrt54gL router but i thought if i could find the early versions of the regular 54g then i could save like 40bucks prob....if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

the routers are simply named WRT54g v3 or whatever. I have two, and one is version 1.1 and the other is 3.

yea i know but on the outside of the box it usually doesnt say what version...it just gives a serial number....but no worries though...my buddy brad from buff has a v3 he's sendin to me preflashed and ready to rock as a bridge...ill prob pick up a gl and ill be set.....thanks for the reply though b
