The above router is what I use in my LAN at home and recently I had my ethernet port fry on it. Now it doesn't read any cables that I put in it and the light doesn't indicate that any are present. I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen with the same router before, because it happened out of the blue! Also, I would appreciate it if you gave me a few suggestions for a new 802.11g wireless router or if I should just get another Linksys.

Thanks.

I have a netgear 802.11 superg router and have been very happy with it. Only problem is, to get the 108mb/s super-g connectivity, you need to buy the corresponding card. To your problem at hand....unfortunately, hardware is not perfect and can die at any time. It sounds like that is what happened.

i was looking at some netgear but i wouldn't want to have to buy a corresponding card with it though, i don't want to spend too much but get quality. i have corresponding wireless adapters though and that is what i use to include my xbox and laptop into my wireless LAN . they are both 802.11g also so it goes well together.....does any one seriously approve d-link routers b/c i've been looking at those too lately!

where you doing anything in particular when it became fried? are all the ports dead? do any lights come on at all for each port on the router or on the nic?

nothing is wrong with my nic b/c as of right now im just running my dsl to my main computer directly from the modem, but for the router...all other ports work and light up to show response except the ethernet port....it's the only one that seems to have fried.
