Line-in device

I'd like to record some audio from my computer (like from games and other stuff). I guess I need some sort of line-in recording device. I haven't been able to find one online, does anyone have a suggestion?

Another idea I have is to plug an audio cable from my output into my microphone jack. Would this work?

im not sure about the 2nd idea, but if your PC is fairly new if you go to volume control and recording there might be an option there for where sound comes from i.e. Line-in or sound on the computer etc...

on my old PC i had a "What U Hear" option which allowed me to record stuff that was playing on the PC.

i think the 2nd idea would probably work though.

It's actually rather simple. If you open up sounds and audio devices in the control panel, and go to the tab that says audio, down below you should find a box you can click on that says Volume under the sound recording tab, from the dialog box that appears, you see many different sliders. Under each slider is a check box, which ever box is checked is where the computer will try to capture sound from. If you click on the stereo mix, it will record all the sounds that play on your computer as long as you have a program that is capable of recording audio.

hmm... I don't quite understand what you're saying. I don't see anything but Sound Playback and Sound Recording. I have integrated sound, btw.

Just about every computer has a line in, integrated audio or not. Just plug in the device you want to record into the line in and use a recording program. Make just line-in isn't muted.
