Limited or no connectivity?

Hi
I have a LAN connection whihch works perfect on my old computer

Onm y new machine - i plug the cable into my mothebroard and have installed the drivers but the connection comes up with 'limited or no connectivity' i have no idea why this is

i also tried to run the broadband installer cd that i recidved a few years ago for my old computer - and this failed a 'ping test'

any one know of a soliuion

Have you ran the network setup wizard and added your PC to the same workgroup?
Do you have mac filtering activated on the router?
Are you using a firewall?

Try reseting the modem and/or router, by unpluging the power cable and then replasing it.

do you perhaps use PPPoE for a DSL connection?

Not sure if this works with LAN connections. But you can try it. it fixed my problem. download easy link connect, and install it on the computer you're trying to get the internet on.

That also worked for mine.

Check all the settings and make sure its set to automatically obtain the ip and dns as well thats a common mistake with a lot of pc's...
