LCD Monitor without a power input Socket ?

I went to a bootsale today and bought a 17" LCD monitor. I was given a standard power unit for use with it,which seemed all in order. However when I got home and attempted to plug it in. I discovered that there was no power input socket on the monitor. The only two sockets appeared to be small single pin plug jack sockets. One marked 'Line In' and the other marked 'Line Out' .It would seem that the power input (12v 5A) would have to be applied via one of these? Has anyone else come accross this situation and could any one offer any advice. PS do not suggest contacting the manufactutrer as there in no name on this series of LCD monitors, other than to state that they were made in China.
Dennis.:(
To continue,I have taken pictures of the relevant aspects of this unit. My next problem is how to enter them into this forum. Advice would be much appreciated.

By the 'standard power unit' do you mean a kettle type lead:

By the sound of the second part of your quote '12v 5A' it seems as if the kettle lead should plug into an voltage adapater, which will then go to the monitor? Are the line in / line outs the right size for headphone cables and does the monitor have speakers? If so it is probably to link the monitor to your sound card. Which still doesn't answer your question.

Or did you get the adapter?

Come back with a photo and we can get this sorted! Doug.

Judging from your post those line in and line out sockets are for audio (it'll probably have built in speakers and you have a power brick which supplies 12v 5a.

Can we get a picture of all the sockets?

Reply from Dennis: I got the mains lead and the power unit but there isn't a socket on the monitor into which to plug the plug from the power unit. There are no hidden covers, I am coming to the conclusion that my only remaing option is to strip the back from the LCD Screen and attempt to trace the wiring from the on/off switch. I will photograph the unit and attempt to put the pictures on line. I do however have a similar monitor of the same make and construction and on this the conventional 12v input socket appears next to the blue output cable at the bottom of the monitor. I had assumed that my latest monitor would be the same, How wrong I was. I entered these details into the forum in the hope that one of you may have been confrounted with a similar situation.

I don't think taking it apart will do much good as I doubt you will be able to trace the power switch as it will probably be on a circuit board. If you take pictures of the back of the monitor where the other sockets are and also directly above where the stand sits as that's where leads often go to.

Thank you for your input, I have taken pictures of the front, back and bottom of the unit. I would like to be able to send these to this forum. Can you give me any advice as to how?

Really keen to send pictures so that you can be as mystified as I am.
Please advise as to how I can do this.
If someone cares to send me an Email address to which I can send them I will be happy to do so.

Could be one of the older ones that had a external power supply. It would just have a small single port on the back.

It uses something like this.

I would very much like to know, just how you managed to insert this picture?
If I could do the same it would solve the problem.

click on the little picture button ontop of the text box, it's second to the right. Then paste in your picture URL.

does the monitor have a model number on it? a quick google of the model will give us anything we need to help you.
