Looking for a laptop, from a user here, or from a site.

In the range from 4-650, 700 tops.
Looking for...
Fast overall.
512+ ram
good at gaming, css and stuff.
wide screen
15.4''+
Doesnt have to have vista, but if it qualifies.

Let me see what'cha got.

Thanks

Oh and brand new or close to brand new.

it will be really difficult to find a laptop in that price range that will be good at gaming, esoecially css.

i think for that price a good find would be maybe amd 3000+ or equivilant, integrated video or maybe some kind of made for laptop branded video card thats not much better and a gig of ram. it could "handle" css but i dont think it would be enjoyable. but im by no means a bible this is just what i am estimating, wait for someone else to chip in before you decide anything, get some more views.

You are really pushing it to find a gaming pc under 700 bucks man nothing premade from dell even starts that low with anything in it you need especially a laptop they start at like 600 now and go up drastically when you add in stuff i built one just as an example for you on dell's site and for a good gaming laptop base price is gonna be around 1500 or more man...

I agree, you may be able to run CS:S, but it would probably lag quite a lot. Even if the graphics are turned down. You're going to need at least $900 or more for a good Laptop. But this is a buying thread, you may find someone with a decent laptop for around $700. But if you really want performance and decent graphics, you're going to have to up the budget.

Alright.
I can live without CSS when I am away from the house.

What should I look at for then?
Generally fast, good storage, and multimedia stuff.

In my range.

Thanks

I could build a lan box.
Meaning a micro case with a mounted 15'' and have computer parts in there, wont be as portable.
But...Yeah.

I think a laptop would be a better idea. Something like this...

Acer Aspire

Not great Graphics card, but it's what you get for $650

hmm if you canOC lappys then dont woory about speed, get a low end duo core and oc it. just get alot of memory is what i would worry about in your case.. multimedia stuff, uh id go much bigger than 15.4, but that would go over budget big time.

i really dont think you can overclock laptops.
Due to heat and intake and exhaust and... Yeah.

I am looking into alienware now and stuff.

Oh, this is the thread you mean, haha

AFAIK, you cant overclock the processor of a laptop, unless the manufacturer allows you to. And if you can, I wouldnt overclock much because of the increase in heat.

But you can overclock the video cards if they are ATI or nVidia (most likely).

Looking good?
And will that price remian the same for the next 2 weeks or so? Cause the guy mentioned promotions changing every week and like... $400 now if i order with him now. lol

I wouldnt get the pre-N wireless card, because once 802.11n becomes finalized, it may not work with all pre-n equipment.

And heres a site with deals on Dell's: http://www.edealinfo.com/dell/#C2

They've had similar ones up for at least 6 months now. I got mine when they had a $750 off coupon code.

I wouldn't be too worried about that, the standard is pretty much ratified already, just a few minor legal issues i think are holding it back. Either way pretty sure that when 802.11n come out all the pre-N's will only be a firmware update away from full compatibility. Although there is always the risk :)

Is that a fast one?
There were two more cheaper wireless cards. But I want the fastest one, since ill be gaming wirelessly.

I have like 2 - 3 weeks to finalize a laptop.

Is what I posted good?

Like will it be that same price in 2 - 3 weeks?

Just a head up, but you also need a pre-n wireless router as well, and make sure to get the same brand.
