Laptop won't turn on?

Long story short, I disassembled my HP pavilion dv6700 laptop and when I reassembled it, the laptop would not turn on at all. I'm pressing the power button but nothing happens. Im thinking it's probably because of a dead motherboard but with a dead mobo, it would still turn on right? I'm also thinking it could be the ribbon connecting the power button board to the mobo because on one end of the ribbon, the chip, I guess you can call it, is almost peeled off of the ribbon. Just wanted to hear what the experts think. I'm pretty sure it's not my battery since it had a full charge before I turned it off and disassembled it.

If the motherboard is dead then I am sorry to say your laptop is history. :(

If this is the case then you probably need a new keyboard or a new ribbon connector. What you can do is get a docking station for your dv6700 (if they are available, I don't know) which has a power button on it. Dock your dv6700 on the docking station and if it boots then you know the keyboard and/or power switch is the problem. But I don't know if docking stations are available for the dv6700 or not, you'd have to have a look online to see if there are any.
