Im running WIN2000, and connect to a Novell Network. But I cant connect to the LAN at the moment. Nothing has changed. No new software or anything. It just stopped working. I know there is a simple solution, but I know nothing about networks. Can someone help?

Someone else told me:
"check to make sure that the IPX/SPX protocol on your machine to see if it's
configured.

Also, updating it would help."

But I dont know how to do that, can someone tell me how to do it?
Thanks :P

Is your computer in the same workgroup as the other lan computers? Have you looked to see if the lan is online, but you just cant see the other computers?

Is it a Netware network, or are you just trying to connect to an iFolder or something similar?

Either way, right click on your connection and check your settings....

my first solution that came to mind whilst reading your post would be to check that TCP/IP is still enabled in your connection properties, i've had several PC's that just decide to uninstall it. Secondly, i would check that your set to be on the smame workgroup as the other machines on the LAN, if you need help in doing this then just ask.

it sounds like he does not need TCP/IP to connect to the network since they are using Novell. they typically use the IPX/SPX. however, he would still need TCP/IP protocols installed if internet access was necessary.

to check ure protocals, adapters, etc, open up Network Connections in the Control Panel (XP and 2K). right click on ure NIC and select properties. the first tab will show u installed protocols. make sure ipx/spx are checked. u might want to remove it and readd too.

*She, lol. :P Lukey nic for Luca. ;)

I opened up my PC and found that my NIC wasnt inserted properly. I must've bumped it at some point. A lil push on the NIC and KAZAM, everything all works again.

Thanks everyone who racked their brains to help me :D

this happened to me the other day, my conection failed after i jsut re set up my system from a lan party, i plug in ethernet and it keeps saying pulg is unpluged. so i examine the ends of the plug and the vertical plastic lines were a bit smashed, the copper in the tip wasnt making contact. well, just sometime else for you to eliminate, which is a good thing. everything else already said here. well i just read the last post and you fixed it...so..um..ya good job :D:D:D carefull with those network cabe....well, nvm :P
