Lan card problem

Hi I have just installed win xp, and it's properly been installed. My Lan Card is perfectly fine, when I insert into my laptop it does not work...suppose to be installed automatically...and even it has to show a message like " new hardware found" ...but does not show....pliz help me...

did you reboot?
just becasue windows doesn't detect it is not a certainty of problems, do you not have a driver cd that came with your lan card

thanx for your reply...but u know dude incase of win xp, when you insert lan card, it will aitomatically detect and install..and lan card is fine when i checked it with my frens laptop...
