Kodak Docking Station Question

my camera is a Kodak CX-4300 (old school digi) and i have a docking station for it.

i was wondering if it is okay to leave my camera on the docking station when the battery is fully charged. what i mean is, will it keep trying to charge the battery even tho its fully charged? or does it automatically turn the charging off once the battery is full?

i just bought a rechargeable battery pack for it a few days ago. i want to make sure it wont ruin it, shorten its life, or over-charge it if i leave it on the docking station all the time.

I wouldn't leave it on the charging dock all the time. The battery should be NiMH which is better as far as memory and battery life than the older NiCd batteries, but leaving them on the station can still overheat and damage your battery. If the docking station is a "smart" station, it will stop charging the battery once the charge cycle is complete; the station itself may tell you if it has that feature or not...
 
yeh i figured that its bad for it, if it doesnt shut off automatically. but, i dont have any documentation for the thing, as i inherited from my father when he passed. i havent tried to find a pdf on it yet, but i may have to.

to the touch tho, i can feel the battery is warm when it is charging. but once it shows that its fully charged, i dont feel any heat coming from it. ill have to look into it i guess.

If you inherited it, how old is the charger? If it's more than a few years old, I would say that it doesn't have this feature. You can buy a new charger for fairly cheap that does have this feature, though...

its at least 3 or 3.5 years old. on the bottom it says its a "Kodak Easyshare Camera Dock II". it also says 'N137' on the bottom, but i dont think that has anything to do with the model.

like i said tho...when its charging, i can feel the battery is warm (through the camera). but after its been charged all up, i dont feel the heat. it seems like its shutting off. but i just replaced the battery, and i dont wanna ruin it or anything. i would think they would make it shut off...seeing as how the camera will usually not be in use, ya know?
