Know it's not really a networking Q, still...

Just wondering if anyone can offer me some advice. Basically I've just ordered ADSL (dsl) to be installed, now the phone port in my home is in the living room, about 8-10 meters from my computer. I'm wondering would I be better off getting an extended phone line and having the modem by my computer, or getting an extended LAN/ethernet cable and having the modem out in the living room?

Cheers.

if it can't be longer than 3 feet than why are all the dsl providers providing a phone cable longer than 3 feet??????

NO.. the phone cord to your modem cannot be longer than 3 feet..
Well i am using a 15 metre (50 foot) extensions cable to connect the phone line to my modem, and i have been using it for arounda year now and not noticed any interference to the net connection, but i would reccomend a longer lan cable as this means you don't have to get your desk cluttered up with a extra modem

I have DSL, modem to phone jack 50 feet, and so far no problems. 50 feet phone cord is inexpensive, can always change if any problems.
