Klisph VS. Logitech

I have the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 and I think they sound awesome. I have heard many horror storys about them suddenly not working, but so far (4 months) they work fine!

If you don't have a sound card with a Dolby decoder then go for the logitechs as they have a built in one. Otherwise I reccomend the Klipsch.

If you want clarity and quality go with the ProMedia.

If you want speakers with great all-around sound (although lacking in highs) and won't distort or bottom out the sub at full volume, go with the Logitechs.

Klipsch is going to be better for music listening. They produce a great sound that is actually kind of addicting. On the other hand, I've heard that Logitech makes great speakers for gamming. I can only speak for Klipsch because I have more experience with them, and I can only speak highly of the sound quality that Klipsch ProMedia speakers produce. I'm very proud of my Klipsch speakers.

klipsch will destroy logitech when it comes to the actual build quality of the interiors of their speakers, as will bose.

To be fair klipsch and bose are on a par with each other in terms of quality.

Open up a bose or klipsch speaker and really check out the component parts and you will understand why..its excellent work with some fine parts.

If only cerwin vega had entered the pc speaker market...then there would simply be no arguement :D

Well I had this same delimma about 5 months ago, I researched for about 2 months before buying them and I got the Z-5500 and I have to say I am VERY impressed by them. I dont see why everyone says the highs are the advertised highest on the Logitechs and the Klipsch is higher than the human ear can even detect so that shouldnt be a problem. Just because the logitechs dont use true tweeters (the speakers use phase plugs which are geat) doesnt mean the highs are crappy. I'm no fanboy because if anything I should be a fanboy of the Klipsch as they are made in my home state (Arkansas). I really think just pick one, either way you are getting great sound. I wish I could have them side by side to listen but oh well. Just make sure you have a decent sound card if you get the klipsch because it doesnt have decoders so all you are getting is the raw sound which isnt too great when listening to music. You need a decoder to put a 2.1 channel MP3 output to all 5.1 speakers. The logitech has decoders for various things and I use the raw output for games which actually use all 5.1 channels and I use the ProLogic II decoder for music which sounds amazing. Also, beware if you dont have a decoder, music bass is very dry and barely noticeable. So if you are into games, choose either of them because I'm sure they are great. For music, if you have a decent sound card then the Klipsch will be fine as well as the logitech but if you are just using the default onboard sound card or just a sound card that doesnt have too many decoding options, get the Logitech. Also if you love bass, the Z-5500 has a huge 10" subwoofer that rivals my friends dual 12" in his truck while the Klipsch has a downfireing sub which is smaller but I'm sure it can pump out some great bass too. I know my Logitechs never distort and the bass is awesome...I've broken a couple things because they fell off the wall all the way across the house. If you really have the money though....Creative Gigaworks S750 7.1 would prolly kill em both. So I'm sure you will be happy with either purchase. Also, just one last thing, if you do get the Logitechs make SURE you tweak your sound cards equalizer to get the most out of the speakers that way even if there is a hole in the high range, the equalizer will fix that.

I like Logitech, i have the cheapo X-620 6.1 system ($50) with an 8 inch woofer... its pretty good, not the best... but they work. I would have to go with Klipsch tho as the overall leader. They are fantastic, just more expensive most of the time.
