just woundering about this setup?

i have a 5.1 surround sound system right now hooked up to a sound a card.

but my sound card support 7.1 surround.

i have another set of 2.1 system that i'm not using, anyway i can hook up the other 2 speakers and sub to the current 5.1 setup?

i tried a couple ways and it didn't work.

No it doesn't work that way, you'll have to get a 7.1 speaker system because all speakers are different. If the 2.1 and 5.1 speakers are the same (same make and series), then you can try it out since you'll have multiple outputs on the card. But to have it controled directly through one source, a 7.1 speaker system would be better.
