Just Ordered my Sound Card

In some games and music you may hear popping and crackling coming from the speakers. The only time thats happened to me was when I was playing Flatout 2.

what card do you have? i see it says X-Fi in your sig, but what one specifically?

im about 95% sure that the poppign sound that you hear would be your speakers, not the actual card itself. the card is just processing the signal and sending it to the speakers.

I have the XtremeMusic. And no, its not the speakers. My old sound card(s) worked fine, and if you read reviews of the X-Fi line, you will see that almost 50% or more users who have that card hear popping and cracking, but not all the time.

The problem is most likely driver related, and not actually hardware related.
FlatOut 2 makes funny noises on my PC as well. It's probably just a flaw in the game itself, and not hardware.
It's not flatout 2. With my Audigy it sounded fine, but not with the X-Fi.

Well, FlatOut 2 is the only game I've noticed that made funny noises on my machine, which is why I beleive it's software... However, I don't have any other hardware to prove it.
