Jacks not working.

Hello all. Not sure if I should have put this here or in the building one but here goes. I built my own machine and it has been working great except for one thing. I have the LOGISYS Computer Area 51 CS51WBK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Case which has the plugs for my headphones in the front including a plug for a microphone. Neither one of these work. I tore it back open today and everything is connected to the motherboard. Any suggestions? Also, my CPU is running at around 40 as well as my system, is that acceptable? Thanks

Sorry, I started to reply but got sidetracked and never did :P

I guess the first thing to check would be that your board has the same type of plug as whatever the case provides. I think my Coolermaster has AC'97, HD Audio, and each pin individually separate.

Another test, I'm quite sure with AC'97 it requires two pins to be jumped to get audio to the rear ports. If you unplug the connector, you should loose audio.

Finally, many cards now have this flaky port detection junk. Try disabling this, perhaps even using different drivers to see if you can override it.

As for your temps, we really need to know what CPU your running, but 40*C isn't bad for most any processor.

I checked my connections, and I have the Audio from the case plugged into the F_audio on my MOBO (thats the only audio anything I saw in there, the integrated sound is a Realtek ALC888 chipset with 8 channels). The connector from the case is a 3 pin connector, and there are 4 pins available on the MOBO. In my sound options, I have 2 (other than my HDMI sound which is not currently connected). One for my speakers and one that says Realtek. When I look at the properties it references only the back ports (see attached). I have tried unplugging my speakers and connecting to the front ports of my machine to no avail. Thank you very much. I appreciate your help
Oh, and my proc is a Phenom II X3

Nevermind, this is resolved. Thank you very much for your help.
If anyone else has this problem, The Other One was correct about the port detection. After doing some research on how to disable it, it fixed the problem. If you double click on the Realtek Audio icon in your tray, than click the small folder over on the far right side (connector settings) that is where you can enable or disable front port detection. Thanks again Other One!
