it this onboardsound worth connecting it to this stereo installation

the pc in my sig. is the onboard card good enough to get real good sound out of my stereo. or will i have to buy a new soundcard? (and if, could you give me suggestions. like pci or pci-e 1x)
Amp: Sony NE9000ES (both, the input selector, and the power amplifier)
speakers: B&W 801

what would you reccomend me, to like this pc to this sound installation?

I wouldn't bother buying a new souncard, onboard will sound fine, but if you have some big expensive high quality home theatre amp then a new soundcard is a must have.

well, honestly, since you've got those bw's (and that sony ES amp for that matter)...you should have a sound card that is capible of producing a high enough quality sound for them. I just got an audigy 2 zs, it's good but some of the higher audigy cards have optical out as well as spdif. you'll probably notice a difference, an onboard soundcard won't have digital out (most of them anyway) that way you can hook up like...dvd audio/dvd video and get the full signal - if you have a full ht setup with surround, you can get the dolby digital/dts es/thx strait from the soundcard. that way you've got high quality all the way down the line.

oh how i wish i had some 801's.

we'll. my mobo das a onboard coaxial audio output. wich would be better? the onboard coax, or a optical. im not worrying about the costs atm.. i can spen about $250 on a sound card :)
but you suggest buying a card with a optical out for dolby dts?

well i sure hope you'd be able to spend that much on a sound card, given how much the rest of your system costs...=) i suppose it all depends on how picky you are, and what you use the system for - if you're going to be using your computer for a media center-type pc for dvd's and dvdaudio and such with surround sound, then yes, an optical out w/dts etc. would help. of course (and this is something i've been wonding about myself) if your sony es already has dolby and dts processing, does it do any good to have a sound card that does it too? if you send a dts signal over an optical cable to a dts pro/amp will it make any difference? geez, i wish i knew...thats about the extent of my knowledge, really. i'll see if i can find out anything else for ya, i know a guy that does home theaters for a living.
