IT jobs?

Hi everyone,

I finished school with a BS in IT and BA in Digital Media and I cant find ANYTHING without a lot of experience, anyone out there have any idea where I should be looking?

Depends on what you want to do. I would suggest take anything you can get entry level. Be it level I support, help desk, network tech, hardware tech, anything that gets your foot in the door.

I worked in Operations for about 2 years before another opportunity opened up. Im still not really doing IT work (I do reporting now) but at least it's not shift work anymore and it's closer to home.

Like tlarkin said, your best bet is to try and get a helpdesk position or desktop support or something similar. Rarely will you ever walk out of school and right into a non-junior roll (aka you'll probably be doing 'monkey' work for a year or 2).

Yup I have been in IT for 10 years now and I can tell you I did plenty of time at help desk, desktop support, call support, email support, and turning a screw driver doing hardware repair before I was ever hired to manage servers.

Just keep at it, keep building skills, keep adding them to your "tool belt," and above all just keep a good work ethic and you will end up OK.
