Issues reinstalling Firefox

Firefox is my main browser, so I have almost all my favorites saved on it (which I saved prior to this). Since I was unable to print from Firefox, I decided to just do a clean install. So, after uninstalling Firefox, during the reinstallation, I have received this annoying message that says, "Couldn't load XPCOM." As a result, I cannot pull up Firefox. I've tried deleting Firefox files in the appdata and temp files location, and also trying to run as administrator. When I try to open Firefox, I get the same XPCOM message and no Firefox. Does anyone have a fix for this, as Google is not helping. Thanks!

P.S. I have Windows 11

Disable your antivirus software first just in case then delete the program folders

  • 64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
You might also want to try using revo uninstaller to fully remove firefox and then download the lastest version and install.

Well, I disabled the antivirus software, I used Iobit Uninstaller because Revo didn't seem too user-friendly at first glance. I did not find anything Mozilla folder in appdata\llocal, and I deleted what wasn't in use in the temp folder. I tried to reinstall, but had the same results. You may begin to see my frustration with this. Nothing seems to work. Grrrr. Anything else I can do?

Thanks.

Have you removed the firefox program folder at C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox? Do you have anything else mozilla related installed like thunderbird? Another option to try would be to use chrome to download the lastest version of firefox then boot to safe mode and try installing from there. However, sometimes you can't install from safemode.

I have not checked thunderbird; however, I have gone into Program Files and x86 and deleted items there. I'll keep trying. If I'm nothing else, I'm persistent. Thanks.

John, you're a genius... but you probably already knew that. I am happily posting this from the Mozilla Firefox browser. Opening from Safe Mode did the trick. I still can't print, but hopefully I'll figure that out. Thank you for your help!
