Is X-Fi worth it?

I currently have the Logitech G51 speakers and the Soundblaster Audigy SE that I picked up at Staples for $40 (mainly because I needed it that night and couldn't wait for shipping). I am a bit of an Audiophile and listen to a lot of music on my computer (mainly dance, trance, techno, pop, and hip-hop), game, and watch DVD's. The sound quality from what I have now is just fine, but I'm looking for something a little better and was wondering of the X-Fi is worth the money or if I can get something better.

In your case, no. A lot of people will say that the Audigy SE cards produce better quality than most X-Fi's. Stick with what you have.

i just bought my soundblaster audigy setup, I'm definitely not replacing it any time soon. I dont think you should either.

I don't know how good an Audigy SE sounds, but the X-fi sounds amazing. See if you can buy one at Staples and try it out. If you don't like it, you can always return it.

That was one thing I was thinking.

But I suppose I may just stay with what I have right now.

Despite your audiophilia, you need to understand that changing DAC's doesn't produce any meaningful sonic differences. The best upgrade, as with any audio system, is speakers. I use a rather fancy "sound card" in my computer and it doesn't sound any different that the the audio built onto the mainboard. It does other things, however.
