Is this right?

Well, I just tried modding some stuff in the bios to see what kind of results I'd get for my first attempt.. And I'm a little confused, so maybe someone can help me here...

First off, my cpu. I know the voltage is really high. My next step is to gradually decrease that.. My questions is, after setting this stuff, windows didn't boot, and the bios said it reset stuff, or whatever (bios error yadda yadda yadda) but CPU-Z is still showing this, so is that my current clock rate?..

Secondly, my ram. This is confusing as well.

Okay, so originally I set it to a 2133 multiplier, and then I put the cas to 7 and changed the multiplier to a 1600 setting, so is that right? Because according to that, my cas is 7 and my ram speed is 2133. Doesn't seem right.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

First, yes. That is your current clock rate.

Second, no. You are running a touch over 1600MHz CAS7. You multiply the DRAM frequency by 2 to get the clockrate. The number up top if your North Bridge clockrate.

Oh, okay. That helped me out. I was getting really confused because running 2133 at a cas of 7 seemed a little, err, impossible.

Secondly, what voltage should I be shooting for for my processor? Right now it's at 1.332.

Wait for someone else. I don't know AMD that well, but as with any processor, get the lowest stable voltage you can.

This is what I'm at right now. I think that's pretty decent. My idle temps are also pretty decent (although not as good as I'd like them to be.) I may try to go for 4.5 and see if I can get the vcore a little lower.

EDIT - Went the opposite direction and got some decent idle temps. I think I'll stay with this. Tomorrow I'll test load temps.

Very nice voltage for an FX, I thought it needed much more then my i7 2600k. But on 4.7ghz I'm also around that voltage (a bit less, not much). (EDIT: my board isn't too great though :P asus v-lx)

Looking forward for the load temps! :D

Pretty good overclock for 1.37V. Takes me right at 1.45 to get 4.7/8ghz. Your memory is running at 1600 with 7-10-9-28. What voltage is your memory running at? I would try setting it to 8-8-8-25 if your leaving it at 1600.

You got a perfect chip to go higher and get some ln2! :D
With golden chips like that they do very high overclocks. Not that they won't get warm, just that they can adjust less to stabilize a nice clockspeed :P

Well right now I have my memory set at 2133 with 10-11-10-32 at 1.6v. I'm going to leave it at a higher clock speed and see how high I can get my cpu with a decent voltage.

Memory seems to do better at higher clock speed then lower timing on AMD. Probably got to do with the memory controller running at the HT speed.

Well I cleared my BIOS to start from square one and the system will no longer post (all fans run at 100%, that's it. I'm guessing that is a motherboard issue, so I am getting a replacement shortly.

Does that sound like a motherboard issue, or a processor issue? I'm really hoping it's the motherboard.

I had it at 4.8GHz 1.4v, I believe. Everything was going smoothly, and now all of the sudden it doesn't want to post. Thing is, I shut it off - the system didn't crash.

With it shut down, unplug the power supply and hit the power button a few times. Plug it back up and see if it will boot. Sure you took the jumper off the Clear pins? What kind of power supply do you have?

With it off and unplugged. Try taking the battery out and hitting the power button a few times. Replace the battery and see what happens. Need to replace the power supply whan you can, pretty low end unit. You got another power suppply you could try.

Hmmm, no i dont. Pretty sure it isn't the power supply, though... I'm really hoping it's the motherboard. I already put in my RMA request, but seeing as it's sunday, I'm not expecting a reply until tomorrow.

And yeah, it is pretty low end. I would replace it, but I really don't have the money for it right now....

Hopefully when I get my new motherboard I can get back on track with this.

Sorry for the double post here, but what are the chances that the problem would actually be the CPU? Everything was running 100% fine until I cleared the BIOS.

Pretty sure its not the CPU. The voltage was really not much. I still think you just have some kind of glitch going on. Have you tried removing the battery and hitting the power button a few times and replacing it?

Yep, tried that too. The problem started with the CMOS pins. I cleared the CMOS, and then it wouldn't boot. I tried unplugging and pressing the power button a few times, taking out the battery and pressing the power button a few times, and resetting the bios again. None of those worked, so I think I'm just gonna get the new motherboard and start fresh. I was pulling 4.8 ghz at 1.4 volts which from what I've read is excellent.

However, I do have a problem. I've been having a lot of trouble with increasing the other settings, such as HTT, north bridge, and most importantly, the actual CPU speed (anything other than 200mhz will NOT boot, no mattery what the multiplier and voltage are set to.)

The HTT is a little easier, but the north bridge is giving me trouble. To increase the north bridge speed, I need to up the voltage on it just a tad, right? because I didn't touch the voltage on it. I only modded the ram and the CPU voltage.
