Is this CPU temp normal?

Lately my computer has been shutting down alot, and I think this is due to temperature, so I installed CoreTemp to find out what temperatures my laptop is running at. Here is a screenshot of the CoreTemp window, and I was wondering if these temperatures were normal.

If it's running at 78C at load, which going by your screenshot it is, then that's OK (maybe a little too hot), but if it's 78C at idle then that's way too high.

What does it run at when it's idle?

Could be the TIM has dried up or you have too much on. Try cleaning it off the CPU with a bit of tissue with some medicinal alcohol on and putting a fresh layer on.

those cpus have a max of 100C so that's not too bad, idk about the Tj max though. And are you overclocking or something? what's up with the frequencies, max turbo is supposed to be 2.4GHz not 3 and one core says 4.8, hoping it's just glitching cuz if it is doing those speeds then that might have something to do with it. And that would be sucking the battery down fast, might have something to do with a faulty battery.

If your min is 72oC its too hot. Remove OC if applicable and reapply TIM. Ensure case ventilation is sufficient.

This is the idle temp. I've taken it into the shop, and they straight away said that it was the temp. They suggested that a BIOS update might fix it, so that is what I am currently doing.

Doubt updating the BIOS will fix really. Remove your heatsink, reapply thermal paste, clean out any dust, reinstall your heatsink, then see what it is.

BIOS update wont do anything. That AMD architecture does run a little hot, but thats too hot. Make sure you have enough fans dragging air out of the case. Reapply TIM. Thats all you can do. Check that in the BIOS nothing is reducing the fan speed and ensure the CPU fan is connected to the CPU fan header on the mobo.

I personally don't like core temp, I would've used hw monitor instead.
Remember people he did say he has a " laptop ". Is it easy to take one apart and re apply thermal compound and clean the heat sink out.
