Is there a way to fix a "lens error"?

Hello People,

I have a digital camera:D It is only several months old and has barely been used. I just got a "lens error":(

I turn the camera on, it says, "lens error", and then turns off by itself.
No inputs will work, by pressing buttons. The only button that seems to accept input is the power button:eek:

The lens won't go back in and is stuck in the out postion:confused:
During proper normal function when it was working, the lens would pop out when the camera was turned on, and pop back in when it was turned off:good:

Funny, a few years ago I had bought a Nikon Coolpix to replace my old E990 Coolpix and it worked for about 2 months and then it started giving my the lens error constantly. Only the lens was stuck in not out and it wouldnt eject it. So I made a video of me destroying it with a hammer/explosives/etc. Was quite fun. Dont have the video anymore though, too long ago.

Moral of the story, I havent bought a camera with those types of lenses since. I have a Canon Powershot thats from 2004 era that has that and it still works, but it seems the lens error is pretty common among those camera types. If and when I ever buy another camera, Im going with a DSLR like Iv always wanted.

Yeah would help if you could tell us what camera you have. Sounds to me like the camera may have been dropped and the the motors which drive the lens in and out are damaged. May be worth sending it into the manufacturer and see if they can do anything about it.

It is a Vivitar
ViviCAM T324N
Optical 3X Zoom Lens

It hasn't been dropped

G80FTW,
Glad to meet you.

Man, that is a hilarious story. I laughed. You must have been really upset to have destroyed it three times.

Never heard that about the ZOOM lens. Didn't know there was a difference. UNTIL NOW.
