i was thinking about creating a forum for our LAN, i want it to be offline forum
no need for internet access !

is this possible !?

Of course! Lets say if you have a router, just don't forward the server's IP though port 80, or whatever port you have the website setup on.

Well you would have to had a server, which could either be a actualy dedicated server or technically just a desktop running as a server. Where then you would have a forum set up which consist of a data base, and would use it as normal just would be internal.

All forums look the same as most use a standard forum template. Just google something like 'forum templates' as im sure theirs loads out their. If you want just use a forum wizard online and just download on to ur system.

Obviosuly i take it you have LAN setup currently?

yes i'm currently in a lan with a server( desktop actually ) just using it as storage for us
we share stuff on it
we're about 50 nodes
sharing 3 ADSL lines

I think it was covered...but if you setup some server with MySQL, then you should be able to run most any type of forum. Install one, then just access the computer by the LAN IP address. Should you want it to go public, forward the IP address though port 80(default HTML port) and it's online...

that means that i can access it from anywhere outside the LAN and i can actually host it on any desktop inside the LAN

that's great
i'm gonna work on that
