Is CCD really that important?

from what I can tell the only difference between the two is a .5" CCD difference
he is refering to the ccd the sensor of the camera...

But the camera you suggest him of course it's on a higher level, way better then the other two. Higher shutter speeds, creative modes and of course a bigger sensor.

The CCD sensor of the camera is the same on both, which is 1/2.5". The only difference I can see is that one has a 3" LCD, where the other has a 2.5".
 
Thanks for the posts both of your suggestions/help has been awesome. :) I think I decided to go with the SD600, its an ultracompact that I'm getting for my mother to play around with so for a beginner like us it's just right and a bit more affordable. Thanks again :)
