my onboard sound and my onboard ethernet controller is using the same irq as shown in the system information in windows. sometimes the sound will lag for 5 seconds and then the blue screen of death pops up. is there an solution to this problem? any help would b appreciated.

if its onboard and one uses a riser card (like audio or ethernet riser) it has been common that sometimes they share an IRQ.

Just bite the bullet and go buy a PCI $20 dollar NIC and disable your onboard and solve the problem all together.

Intergrated or a riser card, it still requires its own ICQ...

opera936 : Are you getting any errors about resource conflicts? I remember trying to resolve such a problem with a previous computer. I beleive the NIC, Soundcard and video card all shared the same ICQ! However, I never got any serious problems.

I suspect your problems are elsewhere, unless windows specifically says you have a conflict.
