my dad is getting me an iPod touch. im pretty sure that im going to need 32 gigs but hes convinced i only need 8. what do you guys think?

For just music, 8gb would be enough, but if you plan to put a bunch of movies on it, may want to get a bigger one.

Tbh the 64gb isnt enough... But thats cause I would hav tons of movies on it. Still I need way more then 8gb just for music.

The 16GB (I have it) is much more than I need. I hope you aren't going to be carrying around 20 full-length movies, if that's the case then higher capacity will be great. However, my 16GB holds all my apps, about 5 full length movies, a plethora of podcasts (both video and audio), and a pretty hefty music library with about 6GB left!

It depends on how much music you want to listen to.... And you know the apps do take up a certain amount of space, so you can't go app happy with an 8gb if you have quite a few songs on your ipod.

I have the 32GB 1G Touch and I'm currently using 27GB of my space. I've got about 1/3 of my music collection on my iPod Touch, 21 apps and 2 episodes of 30 Rock.

If you don't mind swapping your music in and out of your iPod using iTunes, you could probably get away with the 8GB but what happens when you're on the road or away from the computer and want to listen to something that isn't on your iPod? You have to go home and sync up!

Personally, I'm debating between getting the 64GB 3G Touch or the 2G 160GB Classic, and selling my 1G 32GB Touch.

EDIT: Also, keep in mind that the 8GB 3G Touch is identical to the 2G, with the exception of the preloaded software version. I would at least grab the 32GB 3G.

Well i talked to some guys from apple and they say that the 8g has the same capabilities as 32g/64g and wiki says the same thing

Not entirely true. The speed depends on the generation of the iPod, not on the hard drive size. The all three generations of iPod Touch have had a 32GB version.
I know that, but the higher versions literally have a faster CPU. That applies to all generations, and Apple has said that since they came out.

But a second generation 8GB would have a faster CPU than a 32GB first generation. So 32GB isn't always faster than 8GB.

obviously he's going to get the current generation and the 32 and 64gb models have faster internals compared to the current 8gb.
