Ok so as you may or may not know, I was trying to watch a movie while cleaning my teeth and basically gave my iPod Touch 2nd Gen a shower.
The screen has stopped working but when you plug it in you can put apps, music and movies on no problems. But the screen is gone. Just shows up as a white screen every now and then.
When it first happened, it wouldn't turn on until the next morning when it started showing a white screen every time I pressed a button.
Anyway nowdays it doesn't do anything. Unless I plug it into the charger and then it shows the white screen again...
I think that the screen is the only thing broken and the rest is probably fine...
Also apple has water damage indicators on all ipods and mine hasn't been triggered so it still might be able to be taken back under warranty.
Here are the options I think I have.
1. Send it to apple. I'm not sure how to do this and it was purchased in Australia while I am currently in India. I could send it to Candy who could take it to the apple store where it was purchased, his name is even on the receipt because he paid for it. It is pretty likely that the iPod will go missing in the mail because Indian post is very unreliable. Candy actually tried sending me far cry 2 and that never arrived. Lots of stuff doesn't make it without getting stolen. That is my main problem with doing this.
2. Send it to an iPod repair company. There are certain companies like one that operates through ebay who repair iPod problems, even water damage and so on. So it is quite likely that they would be able to fix it. It would probably be quite expensive and again there would be the possibility that it would go missing in the post. I can't afford to spend much right now.
3. Get a replacement screen from ebay. I found one for $30 and if the screen was the only problem then I could just replace it and everything would be find. This is my favourite option because it is inexpensive and doesn't require me to risk losing the iPod in the post. However if there are any more problems then just with the screen, then I have a faulty iPod with a brand new screen and the warranty has been voided so I can't send it to apple.
Please read through this all so you know why I prefer some options which would normally seem better. Keep in mind that I have pretty much have no money at the moment.
