Ip address/default (Help Please!)

Ok,
I just set up my network but only 1 coputer can use the internet at a time. Optus told me i need to set up my IP Address but they wouldn't tell me how to. It's on default right now...What do i do? Please help!

I have a hub, ethernet crossover cable and a network cable...A hub was what i was told to use by some expert guy, and i know lots of people who use a hub but no one knows why they wont work at the same time...Could it be a modem?
 
A hub does not allow you to share an internet connection. You need a router, or you must have a computer set up as the internet gateway.
