IP Address Assignment

Help needed

Hi All

I have a question i know someone on here wil have the answer, and please keep answers and explanations simple.

The Question:

I have a Epson Printer that is connected through an IP address to an Adhoc network to a laptop as there is no router where the printer is intended to be used.

when the laptop comes home It cannot connect to the BT wireless router because the IP addresses are different, but i can connect via eathernet.

So can the laptop be set up to select the IP address for the printer or the wireless network automaticlly using two different ip address or can i buy a router to use where there is no interenet.

Simplest way is for when you go home, change the wireless settings to "Obtain an IP Address automatically". Obviously, when you go back to the printer without a network, set the IP address you wish to connect to the printer.

Or, Yes, you can have a router without broadband.

Make sure they are on the same subnet w/ same mask and gateway
