internet laptop connection

Hello,

Can anyone help me a question? I dont really understand.
My brother brought his laptop to my house. After i entered my router password, his laptop showed CONNECTED, and the signal bar was is in third bar, that is good. I then went back to desktop to click on internet icon to get online, but the screen always displayed " the page can not display" . it did not have internet connection even the network showed CONNECTED.
Why doesn't his laptop to get connetion? I checked my own laptop, it is connected.

When he brought back to his home, then his internet works just fine.
Please help my question.

It may be because he might have it set to a static IP address and if thats the case, won't connect. He would have to make sure that under the tcp/IP settings that it checked to obtain ip address automatically. Also it wouldn't hurt to allow dns server to be obtained automatically to just in case.

His computer sets exactly the same as you described aboe, but the network connection internet still has red cross sign lower right and is still not connected internet.
any other ideas.
