Internet History

Hi,
I work for a company which uses Server 2003 and runs a network of around 50-80 computers. Now I know I shouldn't have but I went onto a few sites that the company says we cant, for exmaple torrent sites and other download sites. Now I haven't been on them now for a few days and I will no longer be doing so but what im trying to say is that how can I get rid of this history. I do have access to the server where maybe a list of visited sites per profile are listed. I am connected to an ISA Server.

How about the individual computer if it isn't stored on the server? I know how the history is cleared from the browser etc, but is it also stored in a log somewhere. Can anybody help?

what browser are you using, i'll asume IE, got tools -> Internet options -> Click clear history

as for the server logs, are you sure you have access to them? Unless you administer the server your not going to be able to get to them, and if you administer the server then you dont have to worry about someone finding out.

Also i wouldn't worry about being caught
a) No one will really ever check especially if its a large firm
b) I think it actually illegal to monitor the pages you visit in such a way so as to identify each page visited by each person. They can monitor the pages the visited in general but then those lists should in no way be indentifiable to you. It would be a form of entrapment. However if they catch while your doing (eg they pass the screen at the wrong time) then your trouble.

Ok thanks for the reply. Is there nothing else on the individual machine like a log file in windows or system? Or even a hidden file?

I can gain access to the administrator logon in the server as sometimes he tells me just to go and update the virus definitions. So, on the server is there a file which stores internet pages in general (doesn't have to be individual user).

Thanks

that wil clear the local logs

probably, but it all depends on the setup he has. What os hes using and were he specified for log files to go. You could just run a search using a url that you know would oly be in the logs.

Personally i would just leave it, they get cleared out eventially anyway.

I use IE and Firefox and know how to clear the history from both of them. How can i see the webpages that have been viewed on the server?

I have no idea where the logs are to be honest. Thanks for your patience so far. Im just worried to be honest, they make a strong point against piracy here so dnt want to jepodise that, anyway, i was only looking!!

relax, you have not done anything wrong torrents sites are not just for sharing pirate material. There are loads of linux apps and distros going over peer-2-peer, they are totally legal.

I do see your point about not being worried, but just for my own peice of mind, how can I go to the server, and view webpages that have been viewed. Thanks for the replys mate, fast aswell!!
