i have comcast cable and two computers running on it through a router. with one computer the internet is perfectly fine, but with the other (the one I'm currrently on) the connection constantly fails and is very slow even when it does work. but, the connection was fine for about 3 months from august to october, although since then has been horrible. could it be the mobo's onboard modem or what?

(ive already called comcast (what a waste), reset everything several times daily.. yadayada)

If it is a desktop, what kind of wifi card are you using? If onboard like you said, what is your motherboard model? If a laptop, what model? What make and model is your router?

From your description, there could be many, many possibilities if we don't narrow it down first.

its a desktop on wired network. the router is a linksys.. model befsr41 ver2 (im also on a switch but that has only been since christmas and hasnt changed anything)
mobo is an asus a8n5x with onboard modem

If you are on a router, your modem isn't the one on your onboard. You are probably referring to your network card. Do you know what it is? What is the make and model of your network card? The one where you wire the cable from the router to.

ok so the connection is still junk up here. there is a temporary solution that ive found--which is switching the speed/duplex from force full 100 to autonegotiate full 100 back and forth. but that only works for a short while before going to junk again
